Dergaon, August 12: In a rare display of inter-state police cooperation, 700 Goa Police recruits — comprising 569 men and 131 women — have successfully graduated from the prestigious Lachit Barphukan Police Academy (LBPA) in Dergaon, Assam, after completing 43 weeks of intensive training.
The Passing Out Parade, attended by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, was marked by a grand march past, solemn oath-taking, award presentations, and a high-adrenaline “Panthers on Wheels” motorcycle stunt demonstration.
This unique batch, which also included personnel from Assam and Manipur, commenced training in October 2024. The programme was meticulously designed to enhance physical fitness, mental resilience, law and order management skills, field tactics, and weapons handling capabilities.
Goa CM Sawant praised the “excellent, high-quality” training provided by LBPA and highlighted that such exchanges strengthen ties between Goa and Assam, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Akhanda Bharat. Assam CM Sarma hailed the occasion as a “matter of pride for Assam” and reiterated the state’s readiness to train police personnel from any part of India.
Established as one of India’s premier police academies, LBPA was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. It continues to produce highly trained officers serving across the nation, fostering both professional excellence and national unity through inter-state collaboration.
