Kohima, August 16: The National Socialist Council of Nagalim-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM) has issued a clarification regarding a controversial segment presented during the Independence Day celebration in Phungyar on August 14, acknowledging that it was inappropriate for the formal nature of the occasion.
In a press release issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN (IM) stated that the inclusion and presentation of the performance were neither reviewed nor approved by the higher authority in charge. The organisation said the segment was arranged independently by the organisers and performers without the knowledge of the ministry or the event’s presiding authority.
Expressing regret, the group apologised for any discomfort or misunderstanding caused to guests, dignitaries, and the public. It further assured that corrective measures are being put in place to ensure all future programmes undergo prior review and adhere to the standards of decorum expected at such solemn occasions.
The NSCN (IM) also appreciated the understanding of attendees and stakeholders as it works to address the issue and prevent similar lapses in the future.
