Manipur: Three Drug Smugglers Held With 369 gm of Heroin in Bishnupur

Bishnupur, August 18: Security forces in Manipur carried out two successful anti-narcotics operations in Bishnupur district, leading to the arrest of three drug smugglers and the recovery of heroin worth several lakhs in the illicit market.

In the first operation, personnel intercepted two men at Kwakta Terakhongshangbi Bazar along National Highway-2 under Moirang Police Station. The duo – identified as Md. Najeruddin alias Babu Phisubam (42) and Md. Altab Khan alias Boy Moijingmayum (31), both residents of Kwakta Ward No. 8 – were found carrying 22 soap cases containing 256 grams of heroin. A four-wheeler and two mobile phones were also seized from their possession.

In a separate operation at Kwakta Sabal Leikai along the same highway under Phougakchao Ikhai Police Station, security forces arrested Md. Arub Khan Ipham alias Khansa (26) of Kwakta Khuman Ward No. 5. He was caught with 10 soap cases containing 113 grams of heroin, a four-wheeler, and a mobile phone with a SIM card.

Altogether, authorities recovered 369 grams of heroin packed in 32 soap cases, along with two vehicles and multiple mobile phones. The arrested individuals and seized items have been handed over to the respective police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
