Senapati, August 19: In a significant move towards tech-driven policing, the Senapati District Police has launched a Remote Monitoring Unit (RMU) at the Police Control Room, SP Office Senapati, aimed at improving law and order and ensuring greater highway safety.

The RMU is connected to 12 CCTV cameras strategically installed across critical highway stretches under Mao, TBI, Maram, and Senapati Police Stations. With this system, police officers can now monitor real-time highway movements, track suspicious activities, regulate traffic flow, and respond promptly to road accidents or emergencies.

Officials said the initiative reflects the district police’s commitment to leveraging technology for smarter policing, ensuring safety for commuters and transporters. Continuous surveillance is expected to help curb highway crimes, improve emergency response time, and create a safer travel experience.
