Senapati, August 29: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Senapati Police arrested two women and one man in two separate seizures on Friday, recovering over 2.9 kg of brown sugar along with cash.
In the first incident, a youth identified as Paogoulal Touthang (22) of T. Gamnom village, Kangpokpi District, was intercepted at Hengbung Checkpost around 10:30 AM. A combined team of Hengbung Checkpost, SOT Senapati, CRPF, and Assam Rifles recovered 205 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 2.816 kg and seized ₹2.5 lakh in cash from a Santro car (Reg. No. MN-06-LA-7131). A case was registered at Senapati PS under the ND&PS Act.
Later in the day, around 2:40 PM, Mao PS team arrested two women, B. Dane (42) and H. Khune (45), both residents of Tunggam Afii Village, with eight soap cases of brown sugar weighing 113 grams at Mao Gate near the ILP counter. A case has been registered at Mao PS under the ND&PS Act for further investigation.
