New Delhi, August 30: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested Manjoor Khan, alias Babu Bhai, a wanted accused involved in smuggling arms and ammunition from Nagaland to Bihar, officials said.
Manjoor is reported to be a close aide of prime accused Vikash Kumar, who was allegedly engaged in trafficking prohibited bore weapons, including AK-47 rifles, from Nagaland to Bihar. The NIA investigation revealed that Manjoor conspired with co-accused to smuggle weapons with the intent of disrupting public peace and endangering national security.
The case was originally registered by Fakuli police in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with a lens and live ammunition at Murghatiya Bridge. Four accused had already been arrested and a chargesheet filed under the Arms Act.
The NIA, which took over the case in August 2024, filed its first supplementary chargesheet against Vikash Kumar, Satyam Kumar, Devmani Rai, and Ahmad Ansari. The probe into the arms smuggling network is ongoing.
