Senapati, September 11: The United Naga Council (UNC) has decided to temporarily suspend its ongoing trade embargo in Naga areas from 6 pm on Thursday, following a communication from the Manipur government regarding the resumption of tripartite talks with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the Centre, and the state government.

According to a statement issued on Thursday, the UNC said it had received the Manipur government’s letter (No. H-802/6/2025-HD-HD) dated September 10, 2025, calling for the resumption of tripartite meeting on the issue of abrogation of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border in Naga.

The council also welcomed the assurance that there would be prior consultation with the UNC and other stakeholders before taking up the works.
