Imphal, September 17: Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on Tuesday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is firmly committed to resolving the ongoing crisis in the state, as reflected in his recent visit and interactions with affected communities.
Speaking at a programme in Imphal, Biren Singh highlighted that the Prime Minister personally met internally displaced persons (IDPs), including women and children, and patiently listened to their grievances. “His concern and determination to address the situation were evident throughout the visit,” Singh said.
Urging all indigenous communities to come together to restore peace and normalcy, the former CM appealed for public cooperation in fostering love, brotherhood, and harmony. He expressed confidence that peace would return to Manipur without compromising core issues.
Awangbow Newmai, MLA and president of the state unit of the Naga People’s Front (NPF), also lauded the Prime Minister’s visit. Calling it a “responsible and meaningful gesture,” Newmai noted that peace cannot be achieved overnight but described the PM’s outreach as a positive step forward.
“He visited, met the people, and appealed to all of us to maintain peace and love one another. We must take this as a positive step towards restoring peace in the state,” Newmai said.
