Imphal, September 20: The Government of Manipur has strongly condemned the deadly ambush on personnel of the 33 Assam Rifles that took place on September 19, leaving two soldiers dead and five others injured.
In an official statement, the state government described the attack as a “cowardly act” and conveyed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, while also wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
As a mark of respect for their sacrifice, the government has announced an ex-gratia of ₹5 lakh each for the families of the two martyrs and ₹2 lakh each for those who sustained grievous injuries. It also assured all necessary assistance for the treatment and rehabilitation of the injured soldiers.
The ambush has drawn widespread condemnation from across the state.
