Noney, September 25: A grand felicitation program was held in honour of Mr. Mteisuding Herang, the newly elected President of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Longmai-3, Noney District Headquarters. Mr. Herang, who hails from Yangkhulen Naga Heritage Village and belongs to the Zeme tribe, was warmly felicitated by the All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AMN) and the Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Manipur (ZSUM).
The event was jointly hosted by the Longmai Students’ Union (LSU) and the Zeliangrong Students’ Union Longmai Area, with Mr. Peter Pamei, Public Relations Secretary of ZSUM, serving as the event compere.
The program began with an opening prayer by Mr. Pousinlung Kamei, Chairman of the Longmai Churches Fellowship, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Ezekiel Dangmei, Vice President of LSU. Dignitaries were introduced and presented by Mr. D. Stephen Zeme, President of AZSU-AMN.
In his keynote speech, NSF President Mr. Mteisuding Herang expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organizers and the community for the honor. He credited his election to God’s grace and the support—spiritual, moral, and physical—of the wider Naga community. “This opportunity has been given to serve our people, to bring peace, unity, and integrity among us,” he stated, adding that the time has come to identify pressing issues and work for the betterment of future generations. He also encouraged students to pursue excellence with hard work, determination, and discipline.
Congratulatory messages were delivered by Shri Kasaigai Gangmei, Chairman of Longmai Village Authority; Shri Lanhungba, President of AISU; Shri. Elu Ndang, former Secretary General of Naga Hoho; and Shri Ningthaodai Gonmei, President of Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN).
A special prayer for the NSF President was offered by Father Dr. T.S. Dominic, Parish Priest of Assumption Parish and Principal of Savio High School, Awangkhul.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jonah Thaimei, President of ZSUM.
The event marked a grand success, thanks to the active participation and support of community-based organizations (CSOs), Longmai village leaders, students from various schools, and the general.
