Dimapur, September 26: The Dimapur Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for issuing death threats and making derogatory remarks against Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü, Adviser to the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA), on Facebook.
According to a press note from the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, the complaint was filed on September 24 at the Cybercrime Police Station, Kohima. The threats were posted in the Facebook group “Unified Nagaland for Christ.” Acting swiftly, police traced and apprehended the accused the same day.
The accused has been identified as Walonir Longkumer (38). A criminal case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station under Case No. 0058/25, invoking Sections 351(3)/79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 67/67A of the Information Technology Act. He is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
The press note underlined that threats to the safety and security of individuals, whether made physically or through digital platforms, will be dealt with strictly under the law. It also assured citizens that intimidation or actions intended to endanger others will not be tolerated.
Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, Aotula Imchen, IPS, signed the note dated September 25, reiterating the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all individuals in the state.
