Imphal, September 30: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Tuesday paid tributes to freedom fighter and social reformer Hijam Irabot Singh on his birth anniversary, observed as Jananeta Irabot Day.
The Governor offered floral tributes at the statue of Irabot Singh at Irawat Square in Imphal and urged people to uphold the leader’s vision of unity, progress, and empowerment. “Today, on Jananeta Irabot Day, we remember the visionary leader, social reformer, and freedom fighter whose dedication to social justice continues to inspire generations,” he said in a message on X.
Several MLAs, state government officials, and dignitaries also joined the tribute ceremony. Across the Imphal valley, the day was observed with cleanliness drives and commemorative events.
Hijam Irabot Singh, popularly known as Lamyanba, is remembered as a political leader and social reformer who fought for the rights of the poor, peasants, and workers, dedicating his life to equality and social justice.
