Chandel, October 14: The Chandel District Health Society launched the second round of National Deworming Day (NDD) 2025 at Khungpham Primary School, Mantripantha Village on Tuesday.
Chief Executive Officer, ADC Chandel, Md. Firoz Khan, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Hrangbung Starson Anal, ZEO Chandel, and Ahanthem Neemi, Programme Officer, ICDS Cell Chandel, attended as Guests of Honour. CMO Chandel, Dr. Joyson Matthew Monsang, presided over the function.
In her keynote address, Dr. Hrangbung Sally, District Nodal Officer for Child Health, highlighted the campaign’s objective and the crucial role teachers and Anganwadi workers play in its success. She emphasised that over 25,000 children aged 1–19 will receive deworming tablets through Anganwadi centres, schools, and institutions. A mop-up round will be conducted to cover children who missed the initial round.

Dr. Sally explained the harmful effects of parasitic worms on health, the importance of hygiene, and available treatments. She stressed improving sanitation, practising good hygiene, and consuming safe food and water.
CMO Dr. Joyson Matthew Monsang stated that the campaign is an investment in health and education, aiming to raise awareness about worm infestation and prevention. He emphasised that by protecting children from worm infections, the district is investing in its future. “This campaign is not just about health; it’s about empowering our children to become productive citizens and shaping the future of our district,” he added. He appreciated the collaboration between departments and stakeholders, ensuring the campaign’s success.


Guests of Honour, ZEO Chandel, Hrangbung Starson Anal, and DPO ICDS Cell Chandel, Ahanthem Neemi, assured full support and collaboration in implementing the campaign.
Concluding the programme, the presidium members, teachers, and staff from ICDS and the Health Department Chandel administered Albendazole tablets to eligible students. The programme was attended by District Programme Manager Jasha Premi, Chief of Mantri Pantha, teachers, health staff, and officials from ZEO Chandel.
