Senapati: Security Forces Seize 697g Brown Sugar in Two Major Raids, Five Arrested

Senapati, October 16: In a significant crackdown against drug trafficking, a coordinated team of Senapati Police and 16 Assam Rifles (AR) arrested one person and seized 15 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 192 grams during an operation carried out around 4:00 AM on October 14, 2025, near Mao.

The first arrested individual has been identified as Bishal Kumar (23), son of Indra Kumar of Maram Kavanam, currently residing at Lairouching Village, Senapati District. The contraband was being transported in a Tata truck (6-wheeler) bearing registration number AS-01-DD-4094.

Following thorough interrogation, the team arrested two additional persons linked to the case:

  1. Lungsuipii Ranmei (30), son of Raichuba of Mayangkhang Village, Kangpokpi District
  2. Luikang Adam (28), son of S.K. Luikang of Mayangkhang Village, Kangpokpi District

The combined efforts of Senapati Police and 16 AR highlight the law enforcement agencies’ unwavering commitment to tackling the drug menace in the district.

Continuing the anti-narcotics momentum, a joint team of Senapati Police and 16 AR seized 30 soap cases of brown sugar weighing 407 grams from two individuals during a routine check at Mao PS Check Gate on October 14, 2025.

The arrested persons are identified as:

  1. H. Linii (35), son of Ch. Hriipou of Tunggam Afii, currently residing at TNK Village, Senapati
  2. V. Mado (36), son of Vihrii of Tunggam Afii, currently residing at TNK Village, Senapati

The contraband was being transported in a Tata Yodha bearing registration number NL-07-AA-3011.

This marks the second major seizure in a single day, demonstrating the relentless efforts of Senapati Police and security forces to make the district drug-free and safe.

Both the cases has been registered at Mao Police Station for further investigation.
