Imphal, October 18: In a series of coordinated operations across Manipur, security forces have arrested five individuals linked to factions of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP). The operations were carried out in multiple districts, targeting suspected members and sympathizers of the insurgent outfit.
According to Police, one Moirangthem Shanta Singh (52), a resident of Ningthoukhong Kha Ward No. 6 in Bishnupur district, was apprehended from his residence on Wednesday for allegedly providing shelter to members of the KCP (Taibanganba) group.
During the same operation, two active cadres of the outfit — Ningthoujam Rakesh Singh alias Luchingpurel (21) of Bishnupur Ward No. 6 and Laishram Birjit Singh alias Lucky (35) of Khongjom Bazar Maning, Thoubal district — were also arrested from the location.
Following leads obtained during interrogation, security forces subsequently apprehended Laishram Kishan Singh alias Pamuba (23) of Tuibong Zion Veng Mamang, Churachandpur district, from the Nachou Panthong area under Bishnupur Police Station. He was confirmed to be an active member of the same faction.
During the operations, authorities seized a .32mm pistol with a magazine and five live rounds, along with five mobile phones and a side bag.
