Agartala, October 20 : In a coordinated crackdown on illegal migration, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Tripura apprehended 21 illegal migrants, including 11 Bangladeshi nationals and 10 Rohingyas, during separate operations on Sunday.
According to BSF officials, the 11 Bangladeshi nationals were intercepted at Agartala Railway Station while attempting to travel to other parts of India without valid travel documents. “During interrogation, they confessed to having entered India illegally through the Indo–Bangladesh border in Tripura,” a BSF official stated.
In a separate operation in North Tripura district, BSF personnel detained 10 Rohingya migrants, including women and children. The group had reportedly travelled from Delhi and Jammu and was attempting to return to Moulvibazar in Bangladesh with the assistance of touts.
All detainees have been handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
With the festive season underway, BSF has intensified surveillance along the Indo–Bangladesh border under the Eastern Command, as instances of illegal infiltration, human trafficking, and other cross-border crimes often rise during this period, officials added.
