Churachandpur, October 20: Employees of the Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) have strongly condemned the violent assault on essential service personnel at the 33/11 kV Tuila Sub-Station in Churachandpur, describing the incident as a “brutal attack and bloodshed” against those maintaining critical public infrastructure.
According to a statement issued by MSPCL’s SSSD-IX and SSD-III units, the assault occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when seven staff members, including the Officer-in-Charge, were allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants. The incident left several employees injured and traumatised.
Terming the act “unacceptable and contrary to the fundamental rights and safety of workers,” the employees demanded an immediate and transparent investigation to identify and punish the perpetrators. They also urged the Tuila Area Chief Association (TACA) and other local stakeholders to resolve the matter under customary law by midnight of October 20.
Warning of escalation, the MSPCL employees stated that failure to reach a resolution within the deadline would compel authorities to initiate proceedings through administrative and law-and-order channels. The staff also sought written assurances that such incidents of harassment and violence would not recur, stressing the need for a secure and peaceful working environment.
The power utility employees further appealed for stronger security arrangements at all substations across Manipur to protect essential service personnel. Copies of the press statement have been forwarded to the Deputy General Manager, SSD-III, TACA, and other relevant authorities for necessary action.
