Moderated by Tamar Gonmei, the event commenced with an invocation by Erehangbe Michael, Touring Catechist, St. Mary’s Parish, Bendramai, followed by a welcome address from Ethan Shoraivei, Child Anchor at CMTV, who warmly greeted the gathering and expressed optimism for the media house’s future.

Kibambe Felix, Proprietor of CMTV and Times of Senapati, presented the purpose and vision of the platforms, stating: “CMTV & Times of Senapati was born out of humble beginnings, overcoming many challenges and difficulties, but driven by the passion to uplift our society.” He emphasised that the platforms were created to give local people their own voice, highlighting that most media houses in Manipur are based in valley areas and often overlook issues affecting the hill districts.

Addressing the gathering, SDC Panii Ngaonii reflected on the struggles faced by the media house, comparing them to his own experiences. He urged CMTV and Times of Senapati to become the voice of the public, the government, and leaders, and most importantly, the voice of the voiceless. He also highlighted the importance of ethical journalism and transparency, both within and outside the organization, expressing hope that the media and Senapati district administration would collaborate to highlight the district’s developmental achievements.

Witoubou Newmai, Editor-in-Chief of Newmai News Network, spoke on the challenges of running a media house in the hill districts. He recalled that many newspapers in Senapati, Ukhrul, and Tamenglong had ceased operations, attributing the difficulty to a lack of passion for journalism in Naga society. “It all starts with a boom, but later vanishes with challenges and pressure,” he said, stressing that passion is the most critical factor in journalism. He added that no formal degree or training can substitute for genuine dedication, urging the Times of Senapati team to pursue their work with consistency and commitment.

Dr Daili Neli, Principal of Asufii Christian Institute, and R. K. Paul Chawang, Social Activist, also extended their moral support, praying for the success of the media house and encouraging the team to remain righteous and courageous.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by S. Genevieve, Associate Editor of Times of Senapati, who expressed gratitude to all participants, partners, and well-wishers. The event ended with a benediction by Heilungzoing Mathew, marking a graceful closure to the launch.
