IMPHAL, Oct 27: Security forces arrested six militants including a woman belonging to different proscribed outfits for alleged involvement in extortion activities and threatening of
officials and public from various districts of Manipur, police said on Monday.
All arrests were made on Sunday.
Two active cadres of the banned PREPAK who were involved in extortion and threatening of government officials, doctors, colleges and public in valley area were arrested from Thongkhong Luxmi Bazar in Imphal West district. They are identified as Longjam Yaiphaba Angom (30) and Oinam Henba Singh (37).
Security Forces arrested an active woman cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) who was involved in extortion within Thoubal district from Wangjing area in Thoubal district. She has been identified as Haobijam Thoibi Devi (35). Incriminating items including 59 demand letters of the outfit, two seals of project secretary KCP (PWG) were recovered from her possession.
Police arrested two active cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), who were involved in extortion from Hiyanglam Terapishak Sekmaijin area in Kakching district. They are Elangbam Lamyanba Meitei (29) and Laishram Indrakumar Singh (25).
One active cadre of the banned Peoples Liberatin Army was arrested from his locality at Khangarok in Thoubal district. He has been identified as Brahmacharimayum Ratankumar Sharma (43).
