SENAPATI, Oct 30: The Mao Students’ Union, Senapati (MSUS) has expressed strong condemnation over the vandalism of a welcome banner prepared in honour of Th. Muivah, Hon’ble Ato Kilonser of the GPRN, which was displayed at Daili Village ahead of the civic reception held on October 29, at Senapati Stadium, Tahamzam.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the student body described the act as “shameful and cowardly”. “This deliberate act of desecration is not merely an attack on a piece of cloth or ink — it is a direct insult to the collective sentiment, dignity, and identity of the Naga people. It strikes at the very heart of our unity, our respect for our leaders, and the values that bind us as a people,” the statement read.
The MSUS asserted that the vandalism was a premeditated attempt to provoke, divide, and sow discord within the community. “Such behavior is utterly unbecoming of any right-thinking individual or group and has no place in a society that aspires for peace, understanding, and mutual respect,” the union stated.
Calling the incident a blow to Naga unity and values, the MSUS urged the concerned authorities to take swift and uncompromising action to identify and punish those responsible. It warned that inaction could embolden elements attempting to tarnish social harmony and the moral fabric of Naga society.
The union further appealed to all citizens, particularly the youth, to stand in solidarity and condemn such disgraceful acts with one voice. “Let this incident serve as a reminder that no act of cowardice can undo the spirit of the Naga people — a people united in purpose, respect, and resilience,” the statement concluded.
