IMPHAL, Nov 1: In a move to strengthen child nutrition efforts in Manipur, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Saturday extended financial assistance to the Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) for the enhancement and wider distribution of “Mama’s Gift” — a locally produced nutritional supplement designed for displaced children aged nine months and above.
Developed under the technical guidance of experts from the National Health Mission (NHM), Manipur, Mama’s Gift is prepared by women of the Lamyanbi Village Level Federation (VLF) in Khurai under the MSRLM initiative. The programme has already reached over 1,000 children staying in relief camps across nine districts, including Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Jiribam, Kakching, Tengnoupal, and Kangpokpi.
Commending the initiative, Governor Bhalla described Mama’s Gift as “a symbol of community care and resilience,” emphasizing that the contribution from Raj Bhavan, Imphal, was “a small but heartfelt gesture” to ensure the well-being of children in crisis. He lauded the collective efforts of healthcare professionals, nutritionists, and community organisations for their dedication to sustaining compassion and solidarity during challenging times.
