SENAPATI, Nov 1: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed deep outrage and indignation over the brutal and unprovoked assault on Monsang student leaders near Bijoypur, between Kakching Lamkhai and Pallel, on the night of October 30. The student body termed the attack as a “heinous and cowardly act” aimed at silencing young Naga leaders dedicated to community service.
According to reports, a group of six to seven unidentified miscreants ambushed and assaulted four student leaders of the Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (STS) — Eno Gedion Kirii, President; Eno Wanglar Phillip, General Secretary; Eno Ts. Hollyson; and Eno Th. Moni — leaving two of them grievously injured.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the NSF said it “stands in unwavering solidarity with the Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe and the entire Monsang Naga community during this distressing time.” The Federation described the incident as a “direct assault on the shared spirit of harmony and inter-community respect that the Nagas have long upheld.”
The NSF demanded that law enforcement agencies ‘leave no stone unturned’ in identifying and apprehending the culprits, warning that any delay would be seen as complicity and negligence. It further stated, “Failure to act swiftly will only embolden such elements who seek to sow division and insecurity in the region.”
Echoing the Federation’s stance, the Lamkang Kurchuknao Kunpun (Lamkang Students’ Union) and the Aimol Students’ Union, Manipur (ASUM) also issued separate statements condemning the assault in the strongest terms. Both organisations demanded an impartial investigation and immediate justice for the victims, while expressing solidarity with the Monsang Naga Students’ Union.
The Lamkang Students’ Union described the attack as “an attempt on their lives” and held law enforcement authorities responsible for failing to ensure safety. ASUM, on the other hand, prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured leaders and called for unity among communities against violence.
The NSF reaffirmed its commitment to peace, unity, and justice, cautioning that it would stand “shoulder to shoulder with all Naga student bodies in pursuing every democratic and rightful means until the culprits are brought to justice.”
“This is not merely an attack on individuals but an assault on the sanctity of the Naga student movement and the principle of peaceful coexistence,” the NSF asserted, vowing to ensure that justice is served without compromise.
