FNCC Rebuts KLA-(L) Allegations, Warns Against Attempts to Distort Naga History

SENAPATI, Nov 2: The Foothills Naga Co-ordination Committee (FNCC) has issued a strong rebuttal to what it described as “false, malicious, and provocative” allegations made by the so-called Kuki Liberation Army (Letkholun) against the Hon’ble Deputy Ato Kilonser of the GPRN/NSCN-IM.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the FNCC said the reckless utterances of the KLA-(L) were a direct challenge to the Naga nation and its leadership, accusing the group of attempting to distort history, incite division, and undermine the peace and dignity painstakingly preserved by the Nagas.

“Let it be clearly understood: the very lands where these elements now seek to provoke unrest are the same lands where they were once offered shelter and protection by the Nagas out of goodwill and magnanimity,” the statement read.

Asserting historical claims, the FNCC stated that the Kukis were brought into these territories by British colonial administrators as porters, labourers, and informants and were never the original inhabitants of either Manipur or Nagaland. It added that “they have no legitimate claim over even an inch of Naga ancestral territories.”

Calling any such claims an affront to both history and justice, the FNCC maintained that “a refugee or illegal immigrant has no moral or political authority to demand separate administration or assert claims over areas such as Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, or Churachandpur.”

The Committee also pointed out that recognized Kuki organizations, including the United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) and the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), had acknowledged and respected the authority and goodwill of the Naga leadership and demonstrated commitment to peace and mutual respect.

The FNCC said, “the Letkholun faction, in stark contrast, is a rogue, self-serving element operating under external influence to deliberately sow discord and provoke instability where understanding and harmony should prevail.”

The statement further recalled that the Kuki–Naga conflict of 1993–1998 was triggered by Kuki aggression against the Nagas, claiming that history records the unprovoked attacks and atrocities committed by the Kukis, which resulted in grave suffering and consequences upon their own people.

“To now attempt to rewrite history and portray themselves as victims is both cowardice and morally bankrupt,” the FNCC asserted.

“The FNCC issues this final and non-negotiable warning: any further attempt to slander, provoke, or malign the GPRN/NSCN-IM, its leadership, or any other Naga Organizations will be met with an uncompromising and decisive response. The FNCC will not tolerate any action that threatens the unity, peace, or honour of the Naga people,” the statement concluded.
