SENAPATI, Nov 6: Panic gripped St. Anthony’s School in Taphou, Senapati district, on Thursday after 30 students suddenly fell ill with symptoms of vomiting after consuming a packaged snack ‘Mouli’.
The school authorities immediately sounded an alert to parents, advising them to avoid the suspected food item.
According to the school principal, the snack was purchased from a nearby shop, which was found closed during verification.”We urge parents to check their children’s food immediately and discard any similar items,” she added.
Reports suggest that the snack in question is not Myanmar-made, but an Indian-manufactured product with a proper FSSAI number, produced by a factory based in Guwahati and distributed by local a distributor.
Residents have also reported that a similar food poisoning has occurred in other parts of the town, prompting widespread concern.
Meanwhile, Ukhrul has also reported a similar food poisoning case linked to the snack ‘Mouli’.
