SENAPATI, Nov 7: The Forest Department, Government of Manipur, achieved a significant milestone in eco-tourism and adventure recreation with the inauguration of the longest zipline in the entire states of Manipur and Nagaland at Dziiduri, Tunggam Village, Senapati District.
The landmark event was inaugurated by Shri Arun R.S., IFS, Conservator of Forests, Northern Circle, Government of Manipur, who assured continued developmental initiatives in the future. He was accompanied by Shri Shanngam S., IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Senapati Forest Division. The ceremony drew local leaders, community elders, and villagers who gathered to witness the historic occasion.
Alongside the zipline, boating at the picturesque Dziiduri Lake was also inaugurated, adding a new dimension to the region’s eco-tourism potential.
The successful completion of this project was made possible through the dedicated efforts and close coordination of Shri Shanngam S., IFS, DFO Senapati, and Shri Benjamin Ziipao, Range Forest Officer (RFO), Chilao Range, who worked tirelessly under the guidance of the Conservator of Forests. Their consistent field engagement, planning, and collaboration with the local community were instrumental in bringing the initiative to fruition.
They were ably supported by Mr. Traole Rai, President of the Khumai Youth & Students’ Organisation (KYSO), and his team, whose vision and community mobilization played a key role in realizing the project. Mr. Rai expressed optimism that the new attractions would draw visitors from far and near, providing recreation while creating employment and income opportunities for local youth.
Despite the busy harvesting season, Khumai leaders and well-wishers turned up in large numbers to extend their support and celebrate the achievement. Their presence reflected the community’s strong sense of unity and commitment to local development.
The inauguration programme concluded with a community lunch, showcasing the warmth and hospitality of the people of Tunggam Village.
The Forest Department expressed appreciation for the collaborative spirit of the local community and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting eco-friendly tourism and sustainable livelihoods across the region.
With the launch of the Dziiduri Zipline and boating facilities, Senapati District is poised to emerge as one of the leading destinations for adventure and nature tourism in Northeast India.
