RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Says Community-Level Efforts Underway to Restore Stability in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 20: RSS Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said that sustained efforts are taking place at both the community and societal levels to restore peace and stability in Manipur, as he began a three-day visit to the state.

Speaking on the opening day of his tour, Bhagwat remarked that “destruction takes minutes, but construction requires years,” stressing that inclusive peace-building demands patience, collective effort and social discipline. He reflected on the Sangh’s civilisational role, national responsibilities, and its ongoing engagement in supporting a resilient Manipur.

The RSS chief praised Manipur’s rich cultural traditions, including the use of indigenous attire and languages, and called for strengthening these practices as anchors of social harmony.

Addressing perceptions surrounding the RSS, Bhagwat said the organisation remains a frequent subject of discussion—often shaped by misinformation and propaganda since the early 1930s. He asserted that the Sangh’s growth is “organic,” adding that its method and discipline were established after its initial 14 years of evolution.

“There is no organisation comparable to the RSS… To understand it, one has to visit a shakha. The objective is to organise the whole Hindu society, including those who oppose the Sangh—not to create a power centre,” Bhagwat stated.

Recalling RSS founder Dr. K.B. Hedgewar, he highlighted his patriotism, academic excellence, and deep involvement in the freedom movement. Bhagwat said Hedgewar realised the need for a united and qualitatively strong society, which led to the formation of the RSS as a “man-making methodology.”

He underscored that the term “Hindu” used by the Sangh is cultural and civilisational rather than religious, describing it as “an adjective, not a noun.” For a strong nation, he stressed the importance of unity, quality, and an aware society working in tandem with leadership.

Bhagwat will continue his engagements in Manipur over the next two days, meeting community groups and reviewing ongoing social initiatives.
