NPP MLA urges all communities to support peace process

IMPHAL, Dec 17: Day after unidentified armed men launched a barrage of fire in peripheral areas of Manipur’s Bishnupur district, National Peoples’ Party legisaltor Mayanglambam Rameshwar on Wednesday urged all communities to support the peace initiatives taken by up by the government and to punish those persons who were involved in gun firing in the district.

Mayanglambam told reporters “it is really unfortunate that alleged Kuki militants from Churachandpur side fired at the residences of displaced persons who had just recently returned to their homes in Bishnupur district under the initiative of the government led by governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla.”

The Kakching constituency MLA continued “on behalf of National Peoples’ Party, as a legislature of the party, highly condemn this provocative and cruel act. I also appeal to the government to punish those persons who is trying to derail the peace process going on among communities for many months. An example should be set.”

“Necessary precautionary measures should also be taken up by the government so that there are no intelligence lapses that could lead to disturbance of peace” he added.

He also called on people of all communities to support the peace process.

NPP state unit president Pfoze S Lorho also said “there have been progress towards peace for some months now. So to have a fresh escalation is very unfortunate. It is highly suspicious some sections doesnt want peace when there are efforts to restore peace and even form a popularly government.”
