IMPHAL, Dec 31: Security forces recovered cache of arms and ammunitions while destroying atleast 40 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in separate operations in Manipur’s Thoubal and Churachandpur district, a police statement said on Wednesday.
Security forces recovered eight firearms along with cache of ammunitions and explosives from the foot hills of Yerum Ching area in Thoubal district on Tuesday, police said.

The recovered weapons included three single bolt action rifles, five 9 mm pistols along with magazine each, one 36 HE hand-grenade, three INSAS magazines, 40 ammunition rounds of different calibers, four detonators, two BP vests, one grenade No. 80 MK I and others.
In an unrelated operation in Churachandpur district on Tuesday, a combined team of Manipur Police, Forest department, CRPF, along with Executive Magistrate destroyed 40 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in Mongken area in Thangjing hill range of the district, police said.
