IMPHAL, Jan 6: Manipur BJP MLA Yumanm Khemchand Singh on Tuesday said time has come to find out who are those involved in gun and bomb attacks whenever a resemblance of peace and normalcy returns in the state.
Speaking at the 51st Foundation Day of Manipur Press Club, Yumnam said “whenever a peaceful atmosphere develops, there are fresh incidents of gun attack and bomb attacks. Now is the time to find out which groups and agencies are involved in disturbing peace and normalcy in the state.”
Yumnam’s statement came a day after two successive IED explosions injured two civilians including a woman at Nganukon in Bishnupur district bordering Churachandpur district.
In December last year, fresh gun firing broke out at Phougakchao Ikhai in Bishnupur district just a few days after several hundred IDPs were allowed to return to their native homes by the state government.
Yumnam also said “steps taken up by Manipur based CSOs are encouraging. The statement made by COCOMI that visiting Imphal will have no problem by any members of communities who upholds the unity and integrity of Manipur is a welcome move towards restoration of peace.”
“I also heard that members if influential body AMUCO visitinv peripheral areas to spread the word of peaceful coexistence is a welcoming” the Singjamei constituency legsislator added.
