KOHIMA, Jan 8: More than 32,000 candidates have applied for 1,176 constable (general duty) posts in the Nagaland Police, highlighting the intense competition for government employment in the state, officials said on Thursday.
The recruitment rally commenced on Wednesday across multiple districts of Nagaland, with document verification, physical standard tests, and medical examinations being conducted simultaneously at various designated centers. Candidates who successfully clear these initial stages will advance to the physical efficiency tests, which include running and endurance events, followed by a written examination.
Officials said the district-wise, multi-day recruitment process will continue until January 16, ensuring systematic assessment of applicants across the state. Notably, this is the first time the Nagaland Police recruitment has been conducted entirely through an online application system.
Eligibility for the recruitment has been restricted to indigenous inhabitants of Naga tribes, in line with state policy. Authorities emphasized that stringent measures have been put in place to ensure transparency and merit-based selection, with multiple monitoring teams deployed at all recruitment centers.
Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton, who holds the Home portfolio, assured candidates that the recruitment process would be fair and impartial, free from favoritism or undue influence. He encouraged aspirants to concentrate on their preparation and performance, reaffirming the government’s commitment to a transparent selection process.
