KYKL militant involved in bomb explosion at fuel station arrested in Manipur

IMPHAL, Jan 13: A militant of a banned outfit who was involved in causing a bomb explosion at a fuel station in Manipur was arrested from Kakching district, a police statement informed on Tuesday.

An active cadre of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), a constituent of G-5, who was involved in causing explosion at a fuel station at Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district on January 8 last was arrested on Sunday, police said.

The cadre has been identified as Hijam Manichandra Singh (35) and was arrested from Komnao Makha Leikai area in Kakching district, police said.

Following his arrest, other accomplices involved in causing the explosion have been identified and efforts to arrest the same are underway, police said.

The bomb explosion at fuel station in Bishnupur district forced indefinite closure of all fuel stations across Manipur valley areas.

In another unrelated arrest, security forces arrested an extortionist of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai in Imphal West district on Monday. He has been identified as Huiningshungbam George Bush Meitei @ Ningthem (19).
