IMPHAL, Jan 13: A tribal organisation in Manipur’s Churachandpur district will organise a public rally on Wednesday to demand early settlement of their political demand and reaffirm non participation in government formation.
A statement by Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF), under the banner of the Kuki-Zo Council said it is organizing a public rally on January 14, “to demand the early settlement of their political demand and to reaffirm non-participation in the Manipur Government, ITLF informed.”
ITLF requested all sections of society including elders, leaders, students, women, and civil organisations to participate in large numbers and requested all schools, institutions and business establishments along the rally route to remain closed on the day.
ITLF reiterated the Kuki-Zo people cannot remain under the same administration and demanded a Union Territory with Legislature from the Government of India.
“Having sought this political solution, participation in the formation of the Manipur Government is unjustifiable” the ITLF said.
