IMPHAL, Jan 20: A formal complaint seeking registration of a First Information Report (FIR) has been submitted at Porompat Police Station against Khurai MLA Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, accusing him of illegally dismantling an ongoing government school construction and threatening workers at the site.
The complaint was filed by Mayanglambam Khonikar Meitei, General Secretary of Friends Unions’ Club (FUC), Khurai Heigrumakhong, who urged the police to initiate prompt legal action against the legislator for the alleged destruction of public property and criminal intimidation.
According to the complaint, the Education (Schools) Department, Government of Manipur, is constructing the Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School under the NESIDS (OTRI) scheme in EPC mode, aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure in the area.
It has been alleged that on January 18, 2026, at around 1.30 pm, the MLA, without any lawful authority or government order, dismantled portions of the ongoing construction work. The complaint further states that he threatened workers and engineers present at the site, creating fear and obstructing the execution of the government project.
Terming the incident a serious abuse of power, the complainant said the alleged act amounts to criminal intimidation and a violation of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. It was also claimed that the destruction caused financial loss to the public exchequer and disrupted the education of children in the Khurai Heigrumakhong area.
The complainant has appealed to the police to register an FIR against the MLA under relevant legal provisions and take necessary action in the matter. Police sources said the complaint has been received and is being examined.
