IMPHAL, Jan 21: Six stolen vehicles were recovered in a coordinated operation by Manipur police from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts in the state, a police statement informed on Wednesday.
Police said “based on specific inputs received from Delhi Police, Manipur Police conducted a coordinated operation against an inter-state vehicle theft racket during which a total of six vehicles stolen from outside the State were recovered from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts”.
The recovered vehicles have been handed over to the concerned Police Stations following due legal procedures, and coordination with the originating states is underway for recovery formalities, it said.
In a related development, based on requisition from Crime Branch, Delhi Police, a joint team of Manipur Police and CRPF Sector QAT arrested Md. Juma Khan (39) of Yairipok Bishnunaha.
“The accused is a wanted offender in multiple serious cases and has been identified as a key player in an inter-state vehicle theft racket” it said adding efforts are on to locate and recover other stolen vehicles from different areas of the State as part of the ongoing operation.
