IMPHAL, Feb 25: Security forces arrested five militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from two districts of Manipur, a police statement said on Wednesday.
Three cadres of the banned Peoples’ Liberation Army and one cadre of PREPAK (PRO) was apprehended from the vicinity of Yangoubung in Tengnoupal district, near the international border with Myanmar, on Tuesday.
They have been identified as Chalamba Takkhelambam (23), Sougrakpam Ojit (33), Sorokhaibam Manimatum (18) and Yambem Lukhoi (21).
One active cadre of PREPAK was apprehended from Thoubal Haokha Mamang in Thoubal district on Monday.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered cache of arms and ammunitions from Nungai Hill Range area in Imphal East district on Tuesday.
The recovered weapons include one country-made rifle, one country-made 9 mm pistol, one HE-36 hand-grenade, five .303 ammunition, two BP helmets among others.
