IMPHAL, Jan 16: Security forces arrested an accomplice allegedly involved in a bomb blast at a fuel station last week from Manipur’s Imphal West district and recovered cache of arms and ammunitions from his possession, a police statement said on Friday.
Security forces arrested Pukhrambam Bimol Meitei (41) from Lamphel Sana Keithel in Imphal West district on Thursday.
The arrestee is an accomplice involved in causing explosion at a fuel station at Moirang Thana Leikai in Bishnupur district earlier on January 8 last, police said.
From his possession of the arrestee, one SMG Carbine along with four magazines with 107 live rounds, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine with five live rounds, and two 36 HE hand-grenades along with two detonators were recovered.
Unidentified miscreants coming in a two wheeler hurled a bomb at a fuel station in Bishnupur district causing an explosion. The incident prompted fuel stations across Manipur valley districts to close down for three days.
Security forces had earlier arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup for involvement in the explosion.
