IMPHAL, Nov 13: Manipur government on Thursday confirmed the outbreak of African Swine Flu disease among domestic and wild pigs in different parts of Churachandpur and Kakching district, an official notification informed.
Notice by Directorate of Veteriary and Animal Husbandry Services informed that KaKangvai village in Churachandpur district along with Moirangthem Leikai Khamlangba Pareng and Kakching Turel Wangma (ward no. 5) in Kakching district have been identified as “new epicentres.”
Sixty rapid teams have been formed for all the 16 districts, they said.
Immediate measures for control, containment and eradication of the ASF will be initiated within 1 km of the infected zone as well as establishment of 10 km surveillance zone outside the infected zone, they said.
The disease does not affect humans, officials said and urged the public not to panic.
