Kohima, August 25: Governor-designate Ajay Kumar Bhalla was sworn in as the Governor of Nagaland on Monday at Raj Bhavan.
The swearing-in ceremony, however, witnessed the absence of the five apex tribal bodies — Angami Public Organization, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho, Rengma Hoho, and Sumi Hoho. Under the banner of the 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy, the groups expressed regret over their inability to attend the event, citing a resolution adopted on August 9 which remains in force.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated Bhalla through a post on Twitter. “Congratulations, Ajay Bhalla, on being sworn in as the Governor of Nagaland. We look forward to your leadership and guidance in advancing the State’s development and progress. Wishing you a successful and impactful tenure in service to the people,” Rio stated.
