Amit Shah: Northeast Students to Secure Jobs Within Region

NEW DELHI, March 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured students from the Northeast that they will no longer need to leave their region in search of employment, as the government plans to provide job opportunities within the region.

Speaking at the Youth Parliament organized by Students’ Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL) in New Delhi, Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to regional development and employment.

In his address, Amit Shah highlighted that by 2027, all the state capitals in the Northeast would be connected through trains, air travel, and roads, marking a significant step toward enhancing connectivity in the region. He also pointed out that the government has invested ₹4,800 crore in the Vibrant Village Programme, which is particularly benefiting Arunachal Pradesh. Additionally, the Union Minister mentioned the construction of India’s largest Rail-cum-Road bridge over the Brahmaputra River and the ongoing development of a rail line between Assam and Bhutan.

The Home Minister also focused on the improved security situation in the Northeast. He revealed that violence in the region has decreased by nearly 70% in the last 10 years, with a 70% reduction in the deaths of security forces and an 89% drop in civilian deaths. Mr. Shah credited the Modi government’s efforts in negotiating and signing agreements with insurgent groups, resulting in the surrender of over 10,500 rebels who have reintegrated into mainstream society. He noted that in the past decade, the government has signed 12 significant agreements with insurgent groups.

Mr. Shah also drew attention to the success of organic agriculture in Sikkim, which was initiated under the BJP government. In terms of economic growth, he shared that a ₹27,000 crore semiconductor plant is being established in Assam, which is expected to create significant job opportunities for the youth. Furthermore, he announced that an investment of ₹2.5 lakh crore is being directed towards the development of the Northeast.

Through these initiatives, the Home Minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the development of the Northeast, ensuring that the region’s youth will have greater access to employment and opportunities without the need to leave their home states.
