SENAPATI, May 3: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has expressed appreciation towards the Government of Manipur and the concerned authorities for establishing NEET examination centres in the hill districts of the state since 2024. The association also appealed to the Central Government to extend similar provisions for other competitive examinations, highlighting the pressing challenges tribal students face in terms of finance and logistics.
In a press release issued on Saturday, ANSAM noted that the initiative of opening NEET centres in the hill areas is a positive gesture that reflects genuine concern for the tribal population. The move has brought much-needed relief to students from remote regions by reducing travel burdens, avoiding logistical inconveniences, and addressing insecurities typically associated with travelling to distant urban exam centres.
The association urged the Centre to set up more exam centres for other national-level competitive exams in the hill districts in the future. ANSAM emphasized that such steps would not only benefit underprivileged students but also highlight the improving law and order situation in these regions.
With the NEET (UG) 2025 scheduled for May 4, to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), ANSAM extended its best wishes to all candidates appearing for the examination. This year, NEET will see the participation of 23 lakh students across 552 cities in India and 14 international centres.
Highlighting the significance of NEET for entry into various undergraduate programs in medical, dental, and allied health sciences such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BUMS, BSMS, BVSc & AH, and BPT, ANSAM encouraged youths to pursue the medical profession, describing it as a noble service to humanity.
Further, the association appealed to all civil society organizations and the general public to ensure cooperation during the exam period by avoiding any form of strike or bandh. ANSAM underlined the importance of maintaining a free, fair, and peaceful atmosphere so that NEET (UG) 2025 can be conducted smoothly across the state.
