CHANDEL, April 2: Assam Rifles, operating under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), successfully apprehended two individuals in possession of brown sugar valued at approximately INR 3.4 crore. The seizure, comprising 14 soap cases of the illicit substance, took place during an intelligence-based operation aimed at curbing narcotics trafficking in Chandel district.
Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles personnel set up a mobile vehicle check post in the Sehlon area. During the operation, a suspicious car was spotted traveling along the Tuitong-Sehlon route. Upon interception and a thorough search, security personnel discovered 14 soap cases of brown sugar concealed inside the car’s boot (trunk).
Following the seizure, the two individuals in possession of the contraband were immediately apprehended. As per legal protocols, they were handed over to the Molcham police for further investigation and necessary legal action.
