IMPHAL, June 26; In a proud celebration of Manipur’s continuing legacy of service to the nation, the Assam Rifles on Wednesday felicitated nine newly commissioned officers from the state who have joined the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Assam Rifles. The ceremony, held at the Mantripukhri Garrison was a tribute to the dedication, perseverance, and sacrifices of these officers and their families.
The event, organised by Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), was graced by Maj. Gen. Ravroop Singh, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), who commended the officers for their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the nation. He also honoured the parents of the officers for their sacrifices and unwavering support in shaping the journeys of these young men.

Of the nine officers, seven were commissioned into the Indian Army from the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on June 14, 2025. Among them:
- Lt A Naoten Meitei, son of a farmer and homemaker, is an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal and NDA.
- Lt Naoba Meitei, whose father serves in the Manipur Police, also studied at Sainik School Imphal.
- Lt Ronendro Angam, from Phayeng in Imphal, is another proud alumnus of the same school.
- Lt G Ambrose Panmei, hailing from Noney district, is the son of farmer parents.
These four officers have been commissioned into the prestigious Gorkha Rifles.
Other Army officers include:
- Lt M Denish Singh, from Kakching, commissioned into the Grenadiers Regiment.
- Lt Meghnath Soibam, a resident of Thoubal, has joined the Regiment of Artillery.
- Lt Thokchom Siddharth Singh, from Bishnupur, is also in the Regiment of Artillery.
All three are alumni of Sainik School Imphal and the NDA.
From the Indian Air Force, Flying Officer Mayanglambam Lucky Singh was commissioned from the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, on June 14. He is the son of an autorickshaw driver and a homemaker, embodying a journey of resilience and aspiration.
“A particularly inspiring journey is that of Assistant Commandant Hingba Graceson R., who began his career as a recruit in the Assam Rifles in 2005. After two decades of unwavering service and determination, he has now been commissioned as an officer in the Assam Rifles,” a statement issued by the Assam Rifles read.
Addressing the gathering, the Inspector General encouraged the newly commissioned officers to strive for excellence as they embark on their military careers. He emphasized the deep-rooted association between Manipur and the Indian Armed Forces, noting that Manipur continues to be the highest contributor of officers among the Northeastern states.
