Assam Rifles Flags Off National Integration Tour for Women from Manipur

IMPHAL, March 13: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting national integration and fostering cultural exchange, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps flagged off a ten-day ‘National Integration Tour’ on Wednesday. The tour, comprising 34 women from various districts of Manipur, will take participants to Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.

The National Integration Tour (NIT), being conducted under Operation Sadbhavana, offers a unique opportunity for the women from Manipur to explore developments across India and interact with people from different regions of the country. The tour was flagged off from the Assam Rifles Garrison at Mantripukhri in the presence of prominent women from Manipur, including Ms. Thumplin Monsang, Chairperson of the Manipur State Commission for Women, and retired judge A. Noutuneshwari Devi. The event was also attended by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) and Mrs. Navjot Kaur, Regional President of the Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA).

During the flag-off ceremony, the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) emphasized the pivotal role of women in shaping Manipuri society and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in restoring peace and harmony. The tour will include visits to iconic historical sites, national monuments, and revered temples, providing participants with a deeper understanding of India’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. The women will also engage with dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat and senior Indian Army officials, strengthening their role as ambassadors of unity and peace.

Ms. T. Monsang, speaking at the ceremony, stressed the importance of involving women in peace processes and social reforms. She praised Assam Rifles for providing the women of Manipur an opportunity to explore other parts of the nation. Mrs. Navjot Kaur, President of the Regional ARWWA, handed over the ‘Tour Flag’ and wished the participants a fruitful and enriching journey.
