IMPHAL, March 18: In a significant breakthrough against narcotics smuggling in the region, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S), launched Operation Kuljang on March 16, 2025, leading to the seizure of 137 soap cases containing brown sugar. The operation took place on the Khangbarol-Joupi-Churachandpur road, based on specific intelligence regarding the movement of contraband items.
A team from Assam Rifles set up a Dynamic Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) at the village of Kuljang, where they intercepted a Maruti van carrying one individual. Upon searching the vehicle, the team recovered the 137 soap cases, containing brown sugar valued at approximately ₹3.29 crore in the international market, along with two mobile phones.
The individual, an Indian national, was arrested and handed over to Molcham Police Station, under Chandel Police Station, along with the seized items on March 16, 2025. This operation highlights the continuous efforts of the Assam Rifles in disrupting narcotics smuggling activities and ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
