CHANDEL, March 15: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the District Sports Association (DSA) Chandel, Wisecrabs, Lakshya Academy, REACHA Foundation, the Chandel District Administration, Chandel Police, and the Medical Department on March 15, successfully organized the 4th Edition of ‘Run Chandel Run’ 2025 Marathon. This marathon, now a significant calendar event for Chandel’s sporting season, was held with the motto “Chandel Runs for Peace and Unity.”
The event aimed to spread the message of peaceful co-existence while promoting fitness, health, and well-being among the local population, particularly the youth. It provided a platform for the community to come together in support of a noble cause. With 800 enthusiastic runners, the marathon took participants through the scenic trails of Chandel, creating an exciting atmosphere for everyone involved.
The Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles flagged off the marathon, emphasizing the importance of such sporting events in uniting people from all walks of life. He also encouraged everyone to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines to maintain fitness and good health.
The event featured four categories: a Below 16 Years category for boys and girls, an Open Category for men and women, an Above 45 Years Dream Run, and a 12 Km Open Cross Country category. Participants included students, athletes, Assam Rifles troops, Chandel Police, Manipur Rifles, and fitness enthusiasts. Notably, both the DIG of Assam Rifles and the Assam Rifles Commandant participated in the marathon, further fueling the excitement.
The closing ceremony was a vibrant celebration, where enthusiastic locals showcased their talent, reflecting the unity and spirit of the community. Through this event, Assam Rifles demonstrated its ongoing commitment to bringing together various communities and promoting fitness and healthy living in Manipur.
