SENAPATI, Feb 3: In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, Assam Rifles troops successfully averted a major human tragedy following an LPG tanker accident near Don Bosco College girls’ hostel in Maram Bazar, Senapati district, Manipur, on 03 February 2025.
The accident, which occurred on National Highway No. 2, caused a significant gas leak that posed an immediate and grave threat to residents of the nearby area. Responding rapidly to the crisis, Assam Rifles personnel rushed to the site with fire extinguishers and swiftly isolated the area affected by the gas leak.

In a decisive move to protect public safety, Assam Rifles troops halted traffic on both sides of the highway to prevent further risks to commuters. The personnel then carried out a fast and efficient evacuation of students from the Don Bosco College hostels, guiding them to a secure location well away from the hazardous zone.
The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Assam Rifles troops were instrumental in preventing a catastrophe, saving lives, and ensuring the safety of the community. The locals have expressed their deep gratitude for the timely and selfless intervention by the “Sentinels of the Northeast.”
