GUWAHAT, June 25: In a landmark move to elevate Assam’s cultural profile and establish the state as a premier global entertainment hub, the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BigTree Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the parent company of the online ticketing platform BookMyShow. The MoU aims to organize national and international musical concerts across Assam and was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati.
The partnership is envisioned to be a transformative step in Assam’s cultural and entertainment journey. It positions the state as a vibrant destination for global music events, leveraging its rich cultural heritage and emerging infrastructure to draw major international acts and audiences.
“Ticketing made seamless! Assam is set to be the next big concert and events destination, and the one-stop destination for all tickets will be @bookmyshow,” Sarma announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He elaborated that the collaboration will not only facilitate hassle-free ticketing but also unlock vast opportunities for youth engagement and tourism expansion. “Beyond natural and heritage tourism, Assam’s music and concert economy will unlock a new avenue for tourism and youth engagement,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also emphasized that Assam is ready to host international concerts, backed by its vibrant hospitality sector and growing venue infrastructure in cities such as Guwahati. He added that the potential extends beyond the capital city, pointing to Dibrugarh and other locations across the state as emerging hotspots for the concert economy.
Describing the agreement as a symbol of growing national and international confidence in Assam’s capacity to host world-class events, Sarma said the collaboration with BookMyShow will create a seamless experience for artists, event organizers, and audiences alike.
