MAO, Nov 21: In a coordinated pre-dawn crackdown on drug trafficking, a joint team of Senapati Police, Assam Rifles, and CRPF seized 5.669 kg of suspected WY (methamphetamine) tablets during a frisking operation at Phikomei Junction, around 2 km south of Mao Police Station along NH-2, at approximately 6:30 am on Thursday.
The security team intercepted a red Tata vehicle (Batch 6-1916, Reg. No. AS01SC 3236) and recovered five packets of suspected WY tablets. Additional items seized include a mobile phone, a debit card, vehicle keys, and cash amounting to ₹1,420.
The accused has been identified as AI Mamun (30), son of Sona Ulla, a resident of VTC-Batabari, PO Markula, PS Baguan, Balijana Sub-Division, Goalpara district of Assam. He was taken into custody on the spot, and further legal procedures are underway at Mao Police Station.
