Morigaon, August 20: Security concerns have resurfaced at Morigaon District Jail, Assam, after two inmates, Jiarul Islam and Subrata Sarkar, managed to escape under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday night. The fugitives remain on the run, prompting questions about potential lapses in prison management.
This is the second major jailbreak at the facility in the last 10 months. In the previous incident, five inmates broke through the jail wall, and two of them are still untraced. The latest escape has highlighted vulnerabilities in the prison system, raising alarms among authorities and the public.
Sources suggest that the escape may have been facilitated by alleged negligence on the part of jail staff, though an official inquiry is yet to confirm the exact circumstances. Following the breakout, police have launched a manhunt to track the fugitives. Senior officials have assured that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for the security lapses.
