IMPHAL, Dec 29: Manipur CLP leader Okram Ibobi Singh on Sunday said that the rule of BJP in the country and the state is not permanent and that only peace and coexistence will flourish when the congress party is strengthened.

Speaking at the 140th foundation day of INC, Singh said “BJP is not permanent. How long will they govern. Let us see how long will they dictate. Lets wait for the elections. There is no press freedom now as well as local municipal elections.”

He said “I strongly believe that only when congress comes in the centre and the state here, only then a progressive government can come where people will live in harmony. Peace and coexistence can only come when congress party is strengthened.”

Singh also said “India is the most successful democracy in the world. But now the fate of democracy is uncertain with BJP doing whatever it pleases. As to dictatorship in Manipur, it already started when BJP came to power. Where is press’s freedom of expression. Whenever press writes something critical of the government, a phone call will come at night asking questions.”

State unit president Keisham Meghachandra also said “maintaining party ideology and discipline by party leaders and workers is absolutely necessary for a congress member.”

Keisham continued “In the state, law and order cannot be maintained and there is no rule of law. That’s why only congress government can bring peace and development in the state. Today the prices of essential commodities is sky high, unemployemnt and conditions of roads are pitiable.”

“Congress will definitely come to power in 2027 state elections and all are appealed to give us that chance” he said.
